POSITION SUMMARY:

The SolidWorks Technician is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining 2D and 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and technical documentation using SolidWorks. This role supports engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams by delivering accurate designs that meet project specifications, industry standards, and production requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (2-3 years minimum preferred).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, drafting standards, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with PDM systems and version control processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, mechanical drafting, or related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or machining environments.
  • Knowledge of materials, fasteners, and fabrication methods.
  • Familiarity with other CAD software or simulation tools is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and revise 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks software.
  • Interpret sketches, specifications, and engineering notes to accurately produce drawings and models.
  • Ensure that designs comply with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable codes.
  • Maintain version control and documentation of CAD files using Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to refine designs for functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support prototype development by preparing drawings and coordinating with fabrication teams.
  • Assist in preparing Bill of Materials (BOMs), exploded views, and technical documentation.
  • Identify design improvements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct basic tolerance stack-ups and interference checks.
  • Perform revisions to existing drawings and models as needed.
