POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto (250 Yonge St, Toronto) and/or Client office at a minimum 4 days per week - subject to change at any time.
We are seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect with deep expertise in payments transformation to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SWIFT infrastructure, global payment systems, and modern enterprise architecture. This role will play a critical part in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient payment solutions for large banking environments.

Responsibilities

YOUR FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design and architecture of payment platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
  • Drive the implementation of SWIFT, Lynx, Fedwire, and other global/regional payment systems.
  • Architect and integrate payment engines and platforms within large-scale banking environments.
  • Design cloud-native, API-first, and microservices-based solutions using modern deployment practices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement real-time, event-driven payment workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with SWIFT standards (MT/MX), ISO 20022 XML messaging, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and integrate vendor platforms such as GPP, FTM, and UPF.
  • Provide technical leadership across the software development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and support.
  • Work effectively in hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments and adapt to evolving business needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • 12+ years of experience in payments transformation programs, with a focus on SWIFT infrastructure and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of global payment systems (SWIFT, Lynx, Fedwire) and financial compliance.
  • Proficiency in Java, REST APIs, and middleware technologies such as Solace and MQ.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, Databricks, and enterprise architecture patterns.
  • Deep understanding of sanction screening, fraud detection, and real-time processing workflows.
  • Familiarity with vendor payment platforms and clearing/settlement systems.
  • Solid foundation in software development, networking, security, and database management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
