Would you be our next Solution Architect and join Posti’s development community to make high-level decisions for software development?
The Solution Architect will oversee the big picture, creating architectural approaches for software development to guide our teams. Working within a diverse technical environment, you’ll engage with a broad array of technologies and integrations. We deploy applications on both AWS and Azure and maintain numerous services in a data center, connected through multiple secure networks. Our development primarily involves Python, Java, and TypeScript, with additional code in Scala, Clojure, and other languages. We focus on React-based user interfaces, but also develop mobile applications for Android and iOS. Additionally, Kafka and GraphQL play key roles in our event-driven, real-time data streaming applications.
While deep expertise in each technology isn’t essential, we expect proficiency in many of them and the ability to guide the architectural direction of experienced teams. Your objective will be to create a cohesive architecture that integrates services into a stable, high-performance solution for our customers.
Your responsibilities are:
- Collaborating with development teams and developers to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders and helping translate the business requirements to technical designs.
- Developing high-level technical specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
- Defining and directing all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards, together with the development teams.
- Successfully communicating all concepts and guidelines between development teams and business stakeholders.
- Overseeing and directing the progress of development teams to ensure consistency with initial design.
- Providing technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers.
- Ensuring that software meets all the requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
In order to succeed in this position, we hope that you have:
- Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture.
- Solid understanding of computer networks, cloud environments and modern cloud architectures.
- Experience and deep knowledge of software development in multiple programming languages and platforms.
- Understanding of software quality assurance principles.
- Understanding of information security, vulnerability assessments etc.
- A technical mindset with great attention to detail.
- High-level organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
A successful Solution Architect combines a strong technical background with excellent IT skills and design experience, enabling them to create a unified vision for software characteristics and functions. They also possess strong social skills, allowing them to effectively lead and collaborate with development teams to achieve the shared vision.
