The successful candidate will have a track record of delivering large, complex projects in a variety of business and industry settings and play a pivotal role in crafting the overall solution, ensuring a thorough understanding of its interconnected components, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security. This involves making strategic decisions on the choice of technology stack, designing the architecture, overseeing its implementation, and proactively stepping in to assist with development tasks when necessary. You will organize and supervise developers, steering them through the coding process, and engage with stakeholders to ensure that the solution aligns with business objectives.
Location: This is a hybrid role, in our Victoria or Vancouver, BC office
Salary: $100,000 - $170,000 annually.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL…

• Lead the creation of technical designs, models, and options for the overall solution by gathering functional and non-functional requirements related to compliance, performance, security, reliability, technical aspects that are compatible with the business or client environment.
• Lead and create technical design and specification documents for the overall solution while researching existing or industry standard technical architecture and technologies.
• Communicate technical decisions, questions, and the overall vision of the solution to clients, stakeholders, and project team members.
• Establish quality standards for development and design, while effectively managing changes.
• Lead the development team while designing and developing software applications in alignment with agreed-upon specifications, while adhering to client, industry, and Quartech standards.
• Create documentation on the operation and maintenance of software in accordance with applicable standards and procedures as required.
• Implementing APIs and integrating services with existing applications.
• Conduct unit and integration tests, and prioritize defects based on the direction from Client or Project Management and delegating to the appropriate project team member while supervising them.
• Collaborate as part of the project team with experienced IT teams, clients, and stakeholders and delegate to the appropriate project team member while supervising them.
• Conduct code reviews to identify improvements and verify that business requirements, system design and code quality gates are met.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership.
• Provide recommendations to stakeholders on the future direction of technology solutions.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU SHOULD BRING THE FOLLOWING…

• A post-secondary degree in computer science or Technical College/Institute Diploma in a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of related industry experience as a Developer, highly skilled in several programming languages and environments
• 4+ years of related industry experience as a Technical Architect, skilled in several infrastructure technologies and architecture frameworks
• 2+ years of related industry experience as a Solution Architect, taking responsibility for crafting the overall solution on projects.
• 4+ years of leading development teams, directly overseeing their work and responsibilities.
• Knowledge of designing and architecting Modern Frontend and Backend solutions using a variety of Frameworks, Languages, and Tools.
• Successfully executed complex projects with budgets ranging from $100,000 to $3million.
• Strong Understanding of multiple Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and experience working (4+ years) in an Agile and Hybrid Agile environment. (Agile, LEAN, Waterfall, Iterative, Spiral, etc.).
• Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly and discuss with them with a non-technical audience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment while supervising them.
