We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering In this role, you will: Act as a trusted advisor to IT and senior business leadership, providing strategic guidance, help build multi-year roadmap for Future State Architecture and support in preparation and evaluation of RFPs/RFIs. Provide technical leadership and governance: review designs, mentor engineering teams, manage architecture risks and dependencies, and engage stakeholders to deliver sustainable solutions. Lead the design and delivery of API-first architectures, defining robust API contracts and standards (OpenAPI/OAS, RAML, REST and GraphQL) to ensure consistency, discoverability and reusability across products. Develop solution and integration architectures for cloud-native microservices, including green field designs and decomposition plans for migrating monolithic systems. Specify data architecture and modelling approaches that align APIs, databases and event streams, ensuring integrity, performance and scalability. Architect event-driven solutions and streaming integrations. Define and enforce security, authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth2, JWT, PKI), and ensure APIs meet auditability, record retention and secure-by-design principles. Ensure compliance with payments, messaging and regulatory standards (ISO 20022, SWIFT flows, real time rails) and embed controls for data privacy and regulatory regimes (PSD2 / Open Banking variants, GDPR/CCPA/LGPD). To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements: Formal training or certification on Architecture (GCP/AWS or Ali Cloud) concepts and 10+ years of applied experience. Proven ability to partner with and influence senior stakeholders, including CxOs and their direct reports, to drive strategic architectural decisions and deliver outcomes. Demonstrable experience designing API first large scale, mission critical distributed systems and deep understanding of API contracts using OpenAPI/RAML, REST and GraphQL, with strong API governance experience. Expertise in Microservices Architecture and related patters (12 Factor App Principle, Service Discovery, Circuit Breaker etc.) Expertise of building low latency, high throughput APIs. Strong data skills across relational and non-relational databases (for example Oracle, Postgres, MongoDB, GCP Cloud SQL/Spanner) and practical data modelling experience. Hands-on knowledge of event-driven architectures and streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka and GCP Pub/Sub, including operational concerns and fault tolerance. Solid security and compliance understanding: OAuth2, JWT, PKI, data privacy regimes (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD), record retention and auditability requirements. Deep understanding of banking/payment domain concepts: corporate payment gateways, payments lifecycle (authorization, clearing, settlement, reconciliation), cash management, treasury operations, ISO 20022 and SWIFT message flows and real time rails. Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) as well as Service Mesh. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD and platform automation.
