JOB SUMMARY
Our Operations team is expanding! We are looking for a Solutions Engineer to support the sales process and to help InterTalk expand to new customers, modernize old ones, and guide the sales process from assessment to fulfillment. This role serves clients and prospects to bring our technology to life, transforming their challenges into innovative solutions. From pre-sales activities and capability analysis to guiding post-sales implementation and ongoing customer relationships, this position practices a combination of technical expertise and interpersonal skills to ensure successful customer outcomes and drive business growth.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years experience in a solution engineering or a technical sales role, deep understanding of Linux and a strong track record demonstrating collaboration. . This is a hybrid opportunity. Team members will make use of our office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, to gain a deep understanding of our products and their flexibility, creating experimental setups in our lab to verify the customer solutions they propose. The work vetting sales opportunities, creating presentation materials, and most communications can be performed remotely if desired.
This position involves occasional travel within Canada and the United States to support the sales process through site visits and in-person customer meetings. The frequency of travel will vary based on the success and needs of the sales team, providing an exciting opportunity to build relationships, understand client challenges firsthand, and play a key role in driving business growth.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Solutions Engineer will be a nexus between Sales (clarifying what we can provide to a customer), Technology (defining what is new and possible), and Operations (delivering a solution to a customer). They are responsible for the following:
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals, file systems, and networking
- Working knowledge of Linux automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl)
- Ability to design, implement, and optimize Linux-based systems for performance and security
- Understanding of network infrastructure and protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, etc.) for SIP-based applications
- Working knowledge with Asterisk PBX systems and their configuration
- Understanding of database deployment architectures and administration
- Strong understanding of technical sales processes and methodologies
- Working knowledge with AWS cloud services and infrastructure
- Working knowledge with configuration and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
- Excellent English presentation skills and communication, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions
- High level of professionalism, attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative work philosophy
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to travel internationally
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or extensive related field experience
- A minimum of 4 years proven experience in a solution engineering or sales engineering or technical sales role A minimum of 6 years proven experience in a technical role, with exposure replying to RFPs or RFIs
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
- Experience in the public safety industry
- Knowledge of general SDLC practices
- Experience closing sales deals
