Job Description As a Sommelier at our Michelin Star restaurant, you will play a vital role in providing an exceptional dining experience to our guests. Your expertise in wine selection, pairing recommendations, and wine service will elevate the overall dining experience and contribute to our restaurant's reputation for excellence. RESPONSIBILITIES Curate and manage an extensive wine list that aligns with our restaurant's culinary offerings while meeting the highest standards of quality and diversity. Stay informed about emerging wine trends, new vineyards, and wine regions to continuously enhance the wine selection. Build relationships with wine distributors, attend tastings, and negotiate pricing and contracts to ensure a robust and well-curated wine program. Collaborate with the culinary team to develop wine pairing suggestions that complement and elevate the flavours of our dishes. Provide detailed and knowledgeable explanations of the wine list, offering personalised recommendations based on guests' preferences and menu choices. Guide guests through the wine selection process, helping them make informed decisions that enhance their dining experience. Ensure the proper handling, storage, and rotation of wines to maintain optimal quality and freshness. Perform wine service duties with precision and professionalism, including decanting, pouring, and presenting wines at the appropriate temperature and in suitable glassware. Educate and engage guests about the wines they are enjoying, sharing insights into the winemaking process, vineyards, and regions. Ensure guest satisfaction through high-quality service and strong public relations. Maintain attentiveness and professionalism at all times, as you are a salesperson representing the restaurant. Establish excellent relationships with guests and maintain a strong presence on the shop floor. Possess excellent knowledge of the services offered by the hotel and ensure that all customers are informed about them. Analyse customer feedback and implement corrective actions in agreement with hotel management. Qualifications Proven experience as a Sommelier Advanced wine knowledge and formal certification Exceptional guest engagement and communication skills Strong commercial awareness Impeccable attention to detail and professionalism Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
