UPMC Western Maryland is seeking Sonographers to join their team of life-changers! The Sonographer performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. They competently perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. We're currently hiring for full-time and casual statuses. These positions will work various shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations. Responsibilities: Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Assists physicians with invasive procedures, adhering to universal protocol standards. Interacts with patients and co-workers, displaying caring, listening, dignity, and respect. Communicates instructions clearly to patients, explaining procedures to alleviate fears. Ensures exams are properly coded, tracked, networked, and charges entered. Identifies patients using two identifiers and reviews patient history and physician orders. Documents patient history in electronic records as required. May handle High-Level Disinfection of devices, supplies, and equipment. Obtains and documents cross-sectional anatomy images, correlating measurements with data charts. Performs technical ultrasound procedures, using appropriate instrumentation and techniques. Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.
