Description
UPMC Somerset is seeking a Full-time Sonographer to join their team. The Sonographer performs imaging procedures at an advanced level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The position will work a variable schedule to support the needs of the department including a holiday and weekend rotation. Responsibilities: Exhibits advanced level of knowledge related to normal anatomy and pathology. Able to recognize pathology and the ability to think critically, assessing the patient results for communication with the physician. Works directly with Radiologists regarding protocol development. Performs all job responsibilities of Level I Sonographer. Assist with the training of staff and student sonographers. Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups. Conveys results to patients and ordering clinicians where appropriate and when given permission by attending physician. Performs or assists Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives. Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and is able to cover off shifts, on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with lead and management team. Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required. 2 years of ultrasound experience required for advanced title. Performance review consistent with minimum of strong/ Solid performance on last performance review. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal Act 33 with renewal Act 34 with renewal Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
Responsibilities
