Description
Description Responsible for following the office protocol and guidelines, the technological performance, reporting and billing of all pelvic ultrasounds, obstetrical ultrasounds as well as sonohysterogram, amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling procedures. Review ultrasound schedule, gather needed patient medical information and referring information for scheduled ultrasound. Order ultrasound in Athena to open communication between ultrasound equipment and Athena. Bring patient to the ultrasound room and explain the ultrasound and/or ultrasound procedure to be performed to patient. Prepare the patient and room for the ultrasound and/or ultrasound procedure. Perform the ultrasound and/or ultrasound procedure ensuring all needed images, measurements, and doppler samples are captured. Create a report in Viewpoint for each ultrasound and/or ultrasound procedure performed ensuring all images and information transferred over from the ultrasound machine. Present images and preliminary finding to physicians when an abnormality is found. Bill for ultrasound and/or ultrasound procedure performed. Maintain ultrasound equipment by cleaning and sterilizing probes between each patient. Evaluate ultrasound room supplies and submit supply order requests. Report any problems with GE, Phillips, Viewpoint or office computer equipment to proper source for repair. Complete quality assurance tasks and attend quality assurance meetings, Attend annual HIPAA and OSHA meetings/trainings to remain in industry compliance. Assist in training of new sonographers. Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to demonstrate that they can perform the essential job function with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and computer skills. Ability to effectively deal with team members and patients, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy. Ability to maintain composure when exposed to varying unpredictable, emergency, and crisis situations. This position is occasionally subjected to pressure due to multiple add-ons. Requirements Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification. Maintain CPR/BLS certification, including annual courses. Obtain Nuchal Translucency certification. Maintain a minimum of 10 ultrasound CMEs per year.
