Department: Video Production
Reports To: Production Manager

JOIN OUR VIDEO PRODUCTION TEAM!

Are you passionate about video production and looking to gain hands-on experience? We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Video Production Team at Quilombo UK!
With our annual Solta O Jogo coming up on the 17th (rehearsal), 18th and 19th of October, we’re looking to build a reliable and creative crew to help film this live broadcast and to collaborate on many exciting opportunities to come. We’ve previously filmed documentaries, podcasts and informative videos for the Kingston Council, and we’re continuing to grow our media work.
Check out our YouTube channel here!
This role is especially well-suited for recent graduates or anyone looking to dust off the cobwebs and re-enter the industry, however, everyone is welcome to apply no matter your level of experience - we’re all about building confidence and developing skills within our team!
Note: This is a hybrid role, offering the best of both worlds with filming on location and admin work from the comfort of your own home.

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: At least 12 months of experience using sound equipment (desirable)
  • Education: Ideally studying or holding a degree in Film, Media, or a related field (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of sound mixing and audio equipment (experience with Logic Pro is a plus!)
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset and ability to multitask
  • Willing to support/guide trainees or less experienced crew
  • Extra bonus: Proficient in Portuguese (desirable, as some of our talent are Portuguese speakers and we would love to accommodate this whilst filming)
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As part of the Video Production Team, you’ll support the development of video content from concept to delivery.
As a Sound Engineer, you’ll work alongside a diverse team of creatives to lead the sound department and create clear, emotive audio for a wide range of audiences, making them feel like they have a front row seat at our events!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and operate all audio equipment before and during the event, preventing audio dropouts, dead space and/or feedback
  • Monitor and balance audio levels to ensure high quality sound, making sure all performers and judges are clearly heard
  • Capture the live atmosphere and key moments
  • Support and mentor trainees in the sound team, creating a welcoming environment
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth production
Note: If you’re just starting out and don’t feel you meet all the criteria, consider applying for our Sound Trainee role within the Video Production Team - it’s designed for beginners who want to break into the industry.
