This position will be responsible for Sourcing Contracts Management and procurement related legal activities for Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) UK & Nordics region, and across Europe (English speaking). HBS installs, integrates and maintains the systems to help keep buildings and facilities safe, secure, comfortable and cost-efficient, and is a leading provider of energy efficiency solutions worldwide. HBS specializes in service of critical building systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), building automation, fire, security and energy management. HBS is now looking for a strong candidate able to fill a Sourcing Contracts Manager role in the UK. This role will ensure a solid sourcing and subcontractor/supplier contracts and legal support in a complex business environment and support the sourcing leaders in their negotiation with subcontractors and suppliers from legal side.
The successful candidate will be part of the HBS Europe Sourcing Leadership Team that is driving the business in the country.
The role is based in Prague.
UK & Europe are very complex in terms of laws and regulations – and as such requires a Sourcing Contracts Manager has to adopt a solid understanding of our products and services, market mechanics and practices. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations is of great importance to this function. Also, the candidate needs to understand, apply and facilitate trainings regarding our internal approval and compliance policies and needs to have a solid understanding of anti-corruption and anti-trust laws. Attendance to important internal meetings, monthly reporting and trainings for our Sourcing teams are required on a regular basis. Traveling will be required about 10-15% of the time.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review customer contract terms and conditions and ensure that our subcontractors/suppliers accept the relevant points and ensure full back-to-back coverage with subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Support sourcing negotiations to ensure subcontractor/supplier agrees to acceptable terms.
  • Support the creation of FOA (strategic sourcing agreement) in the post-bid phase.
  • Develop and improve on other sourcing contracting processes as required.
  • Support Sourcing Leaders in any legal post-contract disputes with subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Support our claims processes with subcontractors/suppliers as required, identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks.
  • Support the Sourcing Team in bidding processes, especially at complex bidding procedures.
  • Provide timely weekly reports of contract metrics and complex legal issues.

Knowledge & Qualification:

  • Solid knowledge of English Construction law civil, trade and contracting laws;
  • Some knowledge of the Nordics and European regions would be a plus.
  • Knowledge in public procurement law is a plus;
  • Expertise and solid experience in contract negotiation principles and techniques;
  • Understanding of financial concepts and impact of contract terms on those concepts;
  • Solid knowledge of laws and regulations governing the contracts (construction law background);
  • Ability to multi-task on a large number of complex contracts issues;
  • Ability to find, argue and gain acceptance of new approaches and objectives;
  • Ability to draft, deploy, train and apply policies and procedures in the field;
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and support the business from a functional leadership perspective.

Education & Experience:

  • Education: Legal degree in English law or a comparable background – e.g. Master in Construction Law etc.
  • Any additional legal or commercial education is a bonus.
  • Experience: 7+ years in commercial business or industry, preferably large companies in construction or technology industries.
  • Experience with high quality, high-cost products, services, and/or complex projects is a bonus.
  • Experience in contractual dispute management.
  • Sound experience in analyzing contract terms & conditions and intelligent assessment of risks.
  • Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Function as a team player, friendly, polite and self-motivated, adaptable and goal-oriented, willing to be a business enabler.
