Fingal’s Bakery - Greenwich London
Salary: £15.00 to £17.00 per hour depending on experience
Experienced Sourdough/Viennoiserie baker, required for our bakery, café, and store in South-East London
Fingal’s Bakery is looking for a motivated and experienced baker to join our team of sourdough & Viennoiserie bakers. Situated in Greenwich, we are a small award winning artisan bakery, just a few minutes’ walk from mainline rail stations with local bus routes a plenty!
We work predominantly with organic flour and sourdough cultures to produce some sensational sourdough breads and Viennoiserie.
We are looking for an enthusiastic baker with previous experience in mixing, weighing, hand shaping and baking, with some experience in producing Viennoiserie
We have relaunched a brand new range and refurbished our lovely shop a few months ago - so an excellent time to join the team. The work environment is fun, relaxed, with a lively atmosphere. We bake directly into our store/café, attend farmers’ markets at weekends and have an up and coming wholesale side of the business. You will not be working all day isolated on some industrial estate and every baker is involved in all parts of production.

BAKING EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years of employment in a busy bakery
  • Ideally high quantity craft baking environment
  • Experience in both making doughs, and Viennoiserie
  • Passionate about baking specialist breads and Viennoiserie and keen to develop your skills.
  • A strong team player with a positive attitude to problem solving
  • This is a full-time position. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK without restrictions and be available for 40+ hours per week work including very early mornings and weekends

SCHEDULE:

  • 8 hour shift
  • 40 hour week
    Salary negotiable based on experience. We support Living Wage for London. We are offering long term employment with possibilities to develop your skills while learning from our very experienced senior bakers.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and measure ingredients for sourdough bread production, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.
  • Prepare and measure ingredients for Viennoiserie pastry production, including laminating, sheeting and cutting of pastry
  • Operate baking equipment and ovens, monitoring temperatures and baking times for optimal results.
  • Operate our automatic sheeting machine
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following food safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline production processes and ensure timely delivery of baked goods.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
