We are seeking a full-time Sous Chef at our Mr Good Guy restaurant, who wants more than just a job. Join us, and become a Heartist® Job Description Alongside our Head Chef, help lead a diverse team to create an outstanding dining experience for our guests, delivering consistent, high-quality food and an exceptional dining experience Supervise and coordinate the kitchen team during food preparation and service Ensure dishes are prepared and presented to hotel standards Monitor kitchen operations to maintain food quality, freshness, and consistency Train, mentor, and develop junior kitchen team members Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and sanitation regulations Manage kitchen inventory and food cost control Participate in menu development and costings Handle kitchen scheduling, stock ordering, and supplier communication in the Head Chef’s absence Stay up to date with culinary trends and techniques Qualifications What we are looking for… An experienced Sous Chef, preferably with knowledge of Asian cuisine Relevant culinary trade qualifications (minimum Certificate III Commercial Cookery) Natural leadership skills with demonstrated results in developing and motivating teams, your lead by example approach will be infectious Creativity for menu development and up-to-date knowledge of current food trends Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude Motivation, energy and drive A passion to learn and grow within the business Have a genuine passion for what you do, keeping up to date with new food trends, and actively contribute to menu development. Be a calming influence in the midst of a high pressured, fast paced environment, with the ability to sustain and drive positive team morale creating a culture that people want to be part of. Capability to manage & monitor financial budgets and food & labour costs Be flexible and rotate to work across breakfast, lunch and dinner to ensure service standards expected are being achieved.
