Sous Chef (Care Home)
We’re looking for a talented and compassionate Sous Chef to join a care home team. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef, helping to prepare high-quality, nutritious meals for residents while ensuring all dietary needs and preferences are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with menu planning, preparation, and cooking of meals, considering diverse dietary requirements.
  • Supervise kitchen assistants, maintaining high standards and efficient workflow.
  • Oversee kitchen operations in the Head Chef’s absence.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
  • Manage stock control and contribute to menu development.
  • Maintain excellent food presentation and quality.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie, ideally in a care or healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of dietary needs, allergens, and nutrition for vulnerable individuals.
  • Exceptional culinary skills and passion for wholesome food.
  • Up-to-date food hygiene qualifications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
  • Must hold an Enhanced DBS check (or be willing to obtain one).
  • Flexibility for various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: From £16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
