Description

YOUR NEXT STEP IN HOSPITALITY STARTS HERE – A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO GROW YOUR CAREER WITHOUT SACRIFICING BALANCE.

Aramark UK is looking for a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic team at Uppingham School – one of the UK’s most prestigious independent schools, located in the picturesque market town of Uppingham, Rutland.
You’ll be working in one of our two central production kitchens, helping to deliver exceptional food to 15 boarding houses across the campus. This is a role where quality, creativity, and leadership matter – and where your development is just as important as the dishes you serve.

Responsibilities

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT:

  • Work-life balance: Fixed rota – 3 to 4 days per week, working only 7 out of every 14 days
  • Competitive salary: £30,824.81 per annum
  • Attractive perks: Free meals during shifts, on-site parking, and good transport links
  • Employee benefits: Access to hundreds of discounts on retail, groceries, and leisure
  • Wellbeing & security: Life assurance, pension scheme, generous holiday allowance (with the option to buy more)
  • Growth potential: Clear progression routes and internal promotion opportunities
  • Professional development: Ongoing training, certifications, and apprenticeships available

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Deliver high-quality meals across breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
  • Oversee kitchen team performance, allocate tasks, and foster a positive working environment
  • Maintain the highest food safety and hygiene standards, including allergen compliance
  • Manage stock levels, assist with ordering, and reduce food waste
  • Contribute to daily kitchen cleaning schedules and ensure compliance with hygiene procedures
  • Support the training and development of kitchen team members
