The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality and Ideally care home experience , with a focus on food safety and preparation. As a Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to help lead a dynamic team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Ideally Experience within a care home
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Proficient in various cooking techniques and cuisines.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Passion for culinary arts and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare high-quality meals that meet the diverse dietary needs of our residents, including those with dementia and specific requirements like diabetes.
  • Follow the home’s established menus, ensuring that all special dietary needs are accommodated and documented.
  • Manage food stocks, place orders with designated suppliers, and participate in shopping duties as needed.
  • Provide residents with meal choices, ensuring their preferences are recorded and respected.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with current legislation.
  • Stay informed about HACCP, food hygiene regulations, and any legislative changes.
  • Care for all kitchen equipment, ensuring it is operated correctly, safely, and maintained to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, including COSHH regulations, and promptly report any accidents or unusual occurrences.
  • Be flexible with hours and willing to cover duties for the Head Chef when necessary.
