SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

Brasswood is searching for a focused sous chef to join our kitchen staff. You will report directly to our Executive Chef and will assist them in running kitchen operations, executing service while meeting the proper food safety standards.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of kitchen experience
  • Strong communication abilities. Must manage relationship with employees, vendors, and customers
  • Knowledge of food preparation and existing health and safety standards
  • Ability to lead a large team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment for both day and night shifts
  • Time management strengths with the ability to multi-task
  • Minimum of high school diploma. Candidates with culinary degrees are a plus, but not required
  • Solid understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and related processes
  • Proven track record of effectively leading and managing others
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the kitchen operates efficiently, effectively, and professionally, in accordance with our high-quality standards and the Brasswood handbook.
  • Manage, train, discipline, and mentor kitchen staff. Take control to quickly resolve any issues or problems that arise in the kitchen, promoting an inclusive and calm work environment.
  • Understand and execute entire Brasswood Bar + Bakery + Kitchen menu, both savory and sweet.
  • Assist with the preparation and quality of food.
  • Maintain kitchen inventory and order supplies.
  • Enforce cleanliness, health and sanitation compliance, according to regulations by creating and maintaining SOPs.
  • Fill in for the executive chef when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
