THE HOURS OF WORK FOR THIS ROLE ARE DAYTIME HOURS, GENERALLY 8.30AM-5.30PM. THERE ARE NO SPLIT SHIFTS AND AT PRESENT NO EVENINGS PLANNED.

SeedRoom is recruiting for an experienced Sous Chef to strengthen our existing kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a supervisory role.
The position will be five days a week, including Bank Holidays and at least one day of the weekend, working approximately 40-45 hours per week.
All candidates should be friendly, reliable, hard working, self motivated and have a sense of humour.

THE MAIN DUTIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:-

  • Working closely with the Head Chef you will be responsible for the entire kitchen operation, developing younger members of the team to produce excellent food in a fast paced environment.
  • Assist the Head Chef in managing all aspects of the kitchen.
  • Experienced in a similar role and environment with a passion for food and quality service
  • Ability to work well under pressure and help maintain a smooth kitchen operation
  • Responsible for maintaining health and safety practices and good hygiene in line with current food safety standards
  • Be a team player with a proven leadership history, communication and strong organisational skills
  • Oversee the kitchen operation in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Be confident in producing homemade cakes, pastries and traybakes in line with company standards
  • Oversee all food preparation and cooking activities
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared and cooked according to established recipes and quality standards
  • Attention to detail
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment in line with our 5 star food hygiene rating
  • Train and mentor new and existing kitchen staff members
  • Monitor food stock levels and place orders as required
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Experience with ordering, stock control & have a sound knowledge of HACCP
  • Sound knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices

  • Skills/ Experience required for the role:-

· Previous experience working in a kitchen providing meals for large numbers
· Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients and procedures
· Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
· Familiar with industry’s best practices
· Sound knowledge of HACCP
