East Market is a warm, welcoming neighbourhood bar and kitchen, open daily from 9 AM to midnight. The role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support our Head Chef in delivering outstanding culinary experiences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, excellent teamwork skills, and a passion for creating high-quality dishes. As the Sous Chef, you will assist in managing kitchen operations, maintaining food safety standards, and mentoring junior staff to uphold the high standards of our kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and contribute to a positive, productive work environment.
• Assist in the creation and execution of innovative, seasonal menus aligned with culinary trends and guest preferences.
• Supervise food preparation and ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
• Uphold strict food safety regulations and maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene.
• Work closely with front-of-house staff to coordinate smooth and efficient service.
• Help manage inventory and place orders to maintain necessary stock levels.
• Train and support junior kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food handling, and kitchen procedures.
• Contribute to the development of cost-effective dishes without compromising quality or creativity.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior kitchen position within a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Solid knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen best practices.
• Ability to lead by example and provide constructive guidance to team members.
• Understanding of food safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a clean and compliant kitchen.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• A passion for cooking and a desire to contribute to memorable dining experiences.
