Position Overview: As the Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations. You will assist in menu development, oversee kitchen staff, and ensure that food quality and safety standards are consistently met. Reporting directly to the Head Chef, you will help maintain the kitchen’s efficiency and contribute to the success of our culinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and a positive work environment.
- Support the Head Chef in developing seasonal menus, maintaining authenticity and quality.
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and adherence to recipes.
- Manage inventory, monitor food costs, and minimize waste.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Help monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, addressing any issues promptly.
- Step in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume kitchen specializing in Italian cuisine.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Creativity and passion for Italian cuisine.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
