Busy cafe restaurant in waitara looking for experience chef
Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or café-style cooking role preferred. And at least certificate iv in commercial cookery.
Job tasks and responsibilities:
Prepare, season, cook, and present a variety of dishes across breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, in accordance with menu standards.
Inspect food ingredients for quality and freshness before use and monitor dishes during and after preparation to ensure consistency and presentation.
Plan and coordinate daily kitchen operations, including organising ingredients and preparing mise en place to ensure efficient service.
Regulate oven, grill, stovetop, and other cooking equipment to ensure accurate cooking temperatures and times.
Prepare meals in line with specific dietary needs, allergies, and customer preferences, adjusting recipes and ingredients as required.
Portion, arrange, and garnish dishes before serving, ensuring consistent presentation and portion sizes.
Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes, maintaining accuracy in quantity and timing to achieve consistent quality.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, cooking equipment, and food preparation areas in compliance with food safety regulations.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of meals, particularly during busy service periods.
Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and testing of new dishes based on seasonal ingredients and customer feedback.
Estimate food and ingredient requirements, monitor inventory levels, and coordinate with suppliers to replenish stock as needed.
Provide input and communicate with supervisors or management to suggest improvements in food quality, menu items, and overall kitchen operations.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety and food handling procedures at all times.
- Strong attention to detail in presentation and consistency- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to manage prep and service flow independently
- Reliable, punctual, and available for early start
