About Lancashire Manor Hotel:
Set in the heart of the North West, the Lancashire Manor Hotel is a beautifully restored 16th-century building combining classic charm with modern comfort. We host a variety of events including weddings, conferences, and private functions, and offer an exceptional dining experience for our guests. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.
Role Overview:
As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and service are consistently delivered. You will take charge in the Head Chef’s absence and play a vital role in mentoring junior staff, contributing to menu development, and supporting the smooth running of all food operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in overseeing the preparation, cooking, and presentation of all food to a high standard.

  • Support and deputise for the Head Chef when required.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to specifications and standards.
  • Help manage stock control, ordering, and waste reduction efficiently.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the training, supervision, and development of junior kitchen staff.
  • Contribute creative ideas for menus, daily specials, and event catering.
  • Maintain a positive and productive working atmosphere in the kitchen.

Requirements:

Proven experience in a similar role within a hotel or high-volume catering environment.

  • Excellent culinary skills and a genuine passion for food.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and food hygiene standards (Level 2/3 Food Hygiene Certificate desirable).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • A team player with strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
