Sous Chef – Stoke-on-Trent £32,000 – £34,000 per annum Full-time, permanent role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team at a beautiful managed pub in Stoke-on-Trent. You will help manage and develop the kitchen team, uphold all food hygiene and safety procedures, and support the delivery of profitability through effective cost control and efficient service. Key Responsibilities Support the Head Chef in leading, motivating, and developing the kitchen team Oversee daily food preparation and service, ensuring all dishes meet specification Maintain stock control, assist with ordering, and manage kitchen budgets Ensure compliance with all food safety, health and hygiene standards Contribute to menu development and implementation alongside the management team Support training and progression of junior team members What were looking for Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous in a busy kitchen environment Excellent leadership and communication skills Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations Financial awareness with a focus on maintaining GP% and managing waste A proactive, hands-on approach and genuine passion for great food Must be commutable to the Stoke-on-Trent area with own transport (live-out role) People Management Support the Head Chef in leading and motivating the kitchen brigade, including part-time and seasonal staff Assist with staff rotas to ensure appropriate cover at all times Play an active role in recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members Ensure kitchen staff complete Induction and Compliance training Set clear expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and maintain team standards Ensure all team members follow company policies and uphold high kitchen standards
