Description
SOUS CHEF We’re looking for a Sous Chef who’s ready to jump in, support the team, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly day in and day out. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Executive Chef to lead service, maintain standards, and ensure every guest has a great experience. When the Executive Chef is away, you’ll confidently step in and take the reins. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys being on the line, mentoring others, and taking pride in both the food and the team behind it. ---------------------------------------- What You’ll Do * Support and run the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef * Assist with food cost control, labor management, and overall kitchen operations * Test recipes, recommend portion adjustments, and ensure all dishes are prepared consistently * Occasionally prepare food for photoshoots or other promotional needs * Check in deliveries, evaluate product quality, monitor inventory, and communicate restocking needs * Help maintain kitchen equipment by following proper use, training staff, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs * Lead by example on every station—training, coaching, and supporting team members while holding standards * Help monitor performance, enforce policies, and assist with documentation and records * Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen that meets all sanitation and regulatory standards * Uphold strong personal standards for appearance, cleanliness, and hygiene, including proper uniform * Stay current and continue learning through industry resources and occasional workshops * Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and operation ---------------------------------------- Work Hours & Benefits * Flexible scheduling, including days, evenings, weekends, and some holidays * Free benefits account with discounts on entertainment, shopping, and gifts * Fitness and wellness support, including healthy eating guidance * Financial assistance program offering budgeting tools, short-term loans, and resources * No-cost Flexible Spending Account (FSA) setup for pre-tax contributions * Health insurance and paid vacation for eligible full-time employees * 401(k) with company match (Roth and pre-tax options available), plus setup support ---------------------------------------- What We’re Looking For * Ability to stand and walk for 8–10 hours, including frequent stair climbing * Comfortable bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching (overhead, shoulder level, below waist) * Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally over 50 lbs, including on stairs * Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with heat, cold, noise, water, and cleaning chemicals * Basic English communication skills (written and verbal) and basic math skills * Familiarity with or willingness to learn systems like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, POS, scheduling, and inventory tools * ServSafe certification preferred (company will sponsor certification and recertification every 5 years) * At least 2 years of experience in a high-volume, established restaurant, including time in a leadership role * Culinary or related education is a plus, but not required—relevant experience is equally valued * Willingness to complete and pass state and federal background checks ---------------------------------------- This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow as a leader while staying connected to the craft. If you take pride in your work, support your team, and enjoy a busy, well-run kitchen, we’d love to talk with you.
