We are currently looking for a SOUS CHEF to join our dynamic team at RILEY’S FISH & STEAK. Michelin Recommended Riley’s Fish + Steak brings a new fish-and-chophouse dining experience to the heart of downtown Vancouver’s waterfront. The latest high-profile project for the Glowbal Restaurant Group — which also owns and operates such local hotspots as its flagship Glowbal, Coast, Italian Kitchen, Black + Blue and The Roof, Five Sails, and Trattoria by Italian Kitchen — Riley’s showcases the very best of the Pacific Northwest’s farms, oceans and pastures via a menu of classics, signature dishes and sides. Riley’s gives locals and visitors alike an authentic and entertaining experience in an expansive space with a garden patio, oyster bar and live music nightly.
The term ‘sous chef’ comes from the French for ‘under-chef’, but we prefer working hand in hand with the Executive Chef. The Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef with the day-to-day functions of running a well-organized kitchen, in addition to other managerial responsibilities such as tracking inventory, ordering produce and maintaining health and safety standards in the kitchen.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

· 5 years minimum experience in a similar position and environment with managing experience
· Foodsafe certified (within 1 week of employment)
· Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship, Red Seal certificate is an asset
· Must have a passion for the business and a love of food
· Be able to plan, prep and execute tasks
· Solid leadership and motivations skills managing anywhere from 5-10 cooks
· Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through as necessary
· Capacity to work well under pressure, meeting production schedules and timelines for service while maintaining control of food quality
· Ability to communicate in English
· Long periods of standing and walking is required
· Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight
