Description

Position Summary

As our Sous Chef, you are not just a supervisor; you are a culture champion. Working hand-in-hand with the Senior Sous Chef, you will lead daily kitchen operations, cultivate a positive and respectful team environment, and ensure consistent culinary excellence. You will play a vital role in mentoring line cooks, maintaining high food safety standards, and driving service efficiency—all while treating every team member with dignity.

Core Responsibilities

  • Positive Leadership: Direct line operations during service with a calm, clear, and encouraging demeanor.
  • Team Mentorship & Training: Actively train and coach line cooks and prep staff. Focus on constructive feedback and professional development to help our team members hit their career goals.
  • Service Execution: Orchestrate ticket flow and food presentation during peak rushes. Maintain a highly organized, communicative, and efficient pass.
  • Operational Management: Assist with inventory control, ordering, and waste reduction, keeping a keen eye on work-life balance when managing staff hours.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce top-tier food safety standards, cleanliness, and workplace safety protocols, ensuring a clean, secure environment for all.
  • Collaborative Input: Your creative and structural feedback is always welcome.

What We Look For

  • Leadership Style: A firm commitment to an empathetic, professional leadership approach. You understand that a respectful workplace lowers turnover and raises quality.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience as a Sous Chef, Junior Sous, or Senior Chef de Partie in a structured scratch kitchen.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to resolve conflicts calmly and handle high-pressure moments with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Technical Mastery: Strong foundational culinary techniques, knife skills, and high-level line cooking ability.
  • Credentials: Valid Food Safety / Food Handler Certification. Culinary arts credentials or Red Seal certification are highly valued asset badges but not strictly required if your leadership and culinary track records align.

Vin Room provides job stability, consistency and a respectful work environment.
