JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented and driven Sous Chef to complete our Back of House Team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our Head Chef and will assist with the preparation & planning of rotational & special event menus and all kitchen operations. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment where creativity, consistency, and team work are valued.
This is a full-time salaried position offering $41,500.00 annually for a 37-hour work week with shifts running between 11:30 am & 8:30 pm. Shift times will vary with special events. We are open every day & candidates must be available on weekends, weekdays & public holidays.

Duties:

  • Assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and managing daily food preparation activities.
  • Assist with the supervision of kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to recipes.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes while maintaining high standards of presentation and flavor.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling practices at all times.
  • Ensure food is stored appropriately with covering, no cross-contamination risk and dated for rotation
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes.
  • Help manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies as needed to maintain stock levels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned and stored. Follow & complete all open & close cleaning tasks
  • Strong people and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Provide excellent customer services
  • Foster a positive team environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and collaboration among staff members.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in a culinary role within the food industry, preferably in a restaurant setting.
  • Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food service operations.
  • Familiarity with food safety guidelines and best practices for food handling.
  • Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • A passion for hospitality and commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Safe Food Handler’s Certificate, Smart Serve & culinary education are all assets
