QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related.
  • Understanding of vehicle communications protocols (ISO14229 UDS CAN) and able to interpret CAN diagnostic data.
  • Powertrain diagnostic experience highly desirable.
  • Familiar with vehicle electronics architectures.
  • Familiar with XML and XML editors (Oxygen, XML Spy).
  • Familiar with OEM Diagnosis and Repair System.
  • Experience with Bosch GradeX OTX Editor desired.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel, Word).
  • Capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to thrive within a team environment and work with all global markets.

PROJECT SCOPE:

  • Design and develop, validate, implement, and release electronic control system diagnostic procedures or “Service Functions” for use on advanced service diagnostic equipment (Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) and Diagnosis and Repair System).
  • Interface with Product Engineering regarding new powertrain control system technologies requiring new diagnostics Service Functions and support. Work with Powertrain engineers to resolve issues within Part 2 specifications and to understand module software operations.
  • Interface with Software/Hardware Designer/Suppliers to ensure diagnostic SW meets dealer diagnostic and repair processes.
  • Develop (Open Test Sequence Exchange (OTX) content) procedures to perform assigned service functions.
  • Perform bench simulations and on vehicle testing of OTX and other assigned diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide timely resolution of concerns arising during diagnostic validation or technician use of the diagnostic software. Work with Technical Assistance Center to resolve diagnostic SW issues in the field
  • Work with Diagnostic Service Products technical experts to assess impact of module nonconformances.
  • Work with In-vehicle Software (IVS) and Global In Vehicle Software (GIVIS) teams to update appropriate data sources as necessary.
  • Manage and understand diagnostic tool data, process diagnostic data requests and data concerns, as they relate to each diagnostic tool.
  • Candidate needs to be based in Southeast Michigan to support on vehicle development of new diagnostic functions, testing/validation, and defect resolution of SW and HW.
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop, validate, implement, and release diagnostic software on a variety of diagnostic service tools to improve serviceability through diagnostic products and services.
  • CA Agile Central (formerly known as “Rally”) is the web-based Agile Project Management tool used to manage the software team backlogs including new functionality (User Stories) and Defects. All supplier team members are required to access the tool, as it will dictate the prioritization of work for each Release and Iteration.
  • HP QC- All supplier team members are required to access the tool to perform the following: develop and maintain diagnostic software test cases, scheduling of test cases and managing validation defects.
