Description
Duties: Supervise a 4,000+ head Sow Farm and related personnel, including day-to-day tasks of the farm, ensuring production targets are met, and supervising farm employees. Ensure the care and conditioning of sows on the farm. Direct the breeding and raising of swine using recognized breeding practices. Supervise swine examinations to identify diseases. Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are in good working condition. Meet daily and weekly production targets. Collect and record production data.  Complete and submit production analysis reports in a timely manner. Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs. Monitor breeding and grading to ensure adherence to safety regulations or standards.  Create and manage employee work schedules. Maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations, and provide constructive and timely feedback to employees. Daily supervision of 5 to 6 employees. No hire/fire authority.   Requirements: Requires two years of related swine experience. Experience in swine farm management of at least 4000 head required. Must have experience managing four or more animal caretakers for sow farms. Must have experience in all processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing. Must have one year of management duties on a swine farm and experience following detailed standard operating procedures. Must also have experience training in artificial insemination in swine. Must have experience in vaccination of swine. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds. Must have good communication skills in English.
Responsibilities
The supervisor will oversee a large sow farm and its employees, ensuring daily tasks are completed and production targets for breeding and raising swine are met. This includes monitoring sow health, directing breeding practices, and supervising examinations for disease identification.
