You will take end-to-end ownership of space-related change, from BAU updates to large-scale transformation projects, ensuring seamless execution in-store. The role also includes leading a specialist team, overseeing planogram delivery, and collaborating cross-functionally to maximise performance. A key focus will be supporting the transition to new assortment planning systems, ensuring continuity, high-quality outputs, and successful adoption across the function. To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.  Due to high interest, this role may close earlier than advertised. Here are some of the benefits we offer that make working for M&S just that little bit more special… * 20% colleague discount on all M&S products and many third-party brands for you and someone in your household, available once you’ve completed your probation * Competitive holiday allowance with the option to buy more * Strong pension and life assurance to help plan for the future * Tailored induction and training to support your development from day one * Exclusive perks and savings through our M&S Choices portal * Market-leading family policies, including parental, adoption and neonatal leave * 24/7 wellbeing support, including virtual GP access and mental health service * One paid volunteer day a year to support a cause that matters to you   What you’ll do  Your key accountabilities will include  * Support the development and execution of the BU Space Plan, ensuring full alignment with the overarching Fashion, Home & Beauty strategy, and lead the strategy through development, planning, and in store delivery. * Co-own, with the Head of BU Space Planning, key relationships with BU Directors and assortment SMEs across Retail, Store Planning & Design, VM, Merchandising, and Supply Chain, building a strong matrix network of colleagues working within BU space and establishing new, collaborative ways of working. * Contribute to the end‑to‑end transformation programme, including input into the development and implementation of new systems, tools, and methodologies as required. * Own the creation, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of a customer‑centric grading framework, using the “one best way” approach to allocate options by grade, define facings, and establish stock width and depth parameters. * Leverage insight and analytics including profit curves, space change tools and catchment insight to drive space optimisation and commercial decision making.   Who you are  Your skills and experience will include  * Effective leadership, with the ability to inspire, guide, and motivate teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes. * Strong ability to initiate, build, and sustain relationships, influencing effectively at all levels across the Support Centre and Stores. * Highly numerate and analytically strong, with the ability to interpret complex data to inform sound commercial decisions. * Expert understanding of the Space Planning and Merchandising critical path in Fashion, Home & Beauty including process flows, competencies, and related activities and relevant essential systems and technology. * Understanding of the entire store retailing environment, particularly in relation to product delivery, space execution, and operational processes.   Everyone’s welcome  We are ambitious about the future of retail.
