Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to join a Federal Program in El Segundo, CA.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE SPACE SYSTEMS ENGINEER INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, Master’s degree preferred
  • 9+ years of experience in systems engineering and integration, including:
    o Leading hardware integration efforts
    o Managing cost, schedule, and technical performance for complex systems
    o Supporting the development and/or production of electronic subsystems

o Identifying and mitigating technical and programmatic risks

  • Active security clearance with a current Tier 5 (T5) or Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), SCI eligibility, and enrollment in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable).
  • Willingness to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP), and to undergo a polygraph examination.
  • Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) are preferred
  • Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
Responsibilities
  • Deliver systems engineering support throughout the full program lifecycle—from concept development through operational deployment.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for the development of electronic components, including design, manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing, production, and sustainment of guidance systems.
  • Define and refine operational concepts, system requirements, and architectural designs; manage system architecture evolution, requirements decomposition, verification strategies, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Maintain and manage the program’s technical baseline through effective configuration management practices.
  • Lead risk management activities, including identifying, analyzing, and mitigating program risks through structured processes and proactive measures.
