The Role Under general direction, The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing routine administrative, clerical and clinical tasks to help ensure the clinics run smoothly. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village. Responsibilities What You Will Do Performs registration and processing of all patients Responsible for taking and recording patient’s vital signs during the triage function. Performs blood draws and other laboratory specimen collection as ordered by the medical provider. Performs EKG. Schedules patients for annual physicals, semi annuals and lab recall. Sets appointments for referrals and follow-up calls when necessary. Directs all incoming telephone calls to appropriate parties and take messages when necessary. Escorts patients into medical provider’s examination rooms and monitor the flow of patients. Ensures the collection of urine specimens for annual physicals. Qualifications Who You Will Be BLS Certification required High School or GED. Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant Program. At least One (1) year of prior experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical clinic. Proficiency in Phlebotomy and EKG. Available to work a flexible schedule as needed in response to participant and staff needs. Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR. Ability to multi-task with excellent organization and communication skills. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Team player and ability to work independently.
