POSITION: Spanish - Dual Language Teacher (Kindergarten Lead Teacher)
SALARY GRADE: School Salary Schedule
NATURE OF WORK: An employee in this class provides direct instruction to students. A wide variety of tasks are performed in the teaching-learning process for students, the primary task is to teach the North Carolina Standard Course of Study in the Spanish language. A teacher performs his/her duties under the supervision of, and reports to, the principal.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Language Skills – Bilingual, Spanish-English ability. Spanish language skills must be at Native Level and English skills should be proficient. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with fundamental mathematical concepts such as basic algebraic expressions, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills - Familiarity with basic computer operation and software. Ability to learn various computer operations required for management of student information and integration of technology in classroom instruction.
Work Environment - The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee may encounter, and include a noise level that is usually moderate to loud. Other – Ability to facilitate lessons in the Spanish Language. Ability to design the instructional program from a global perspective incorporating diverse cultural lessons. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and use fingers, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
