QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Valid Texas teaching credentials in the area(s) and grade level(s) of assignment
Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) or in program to gain ALT certification.
Bilingual certification required

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Strong knowledge base on TEA Handbook/guidelines and federal requirements on Dyslexia
Exceptional communication skills
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation, as required by IDEA
Knowledge of effective dyslexia intervention instructional strategies and research-based best practices
Evidence of skills in planning, organization, and collaboration
Ability to conduct instruction and/or attend meetings and professional development, and make and receive phone calls in a virtual or remote workplace environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of effective professional development practices
Knowledge of English Language Learners (ELL) strategies
Passion for increasing student learning
Experience using student and campus level data to select, implement and differentiate instructional methods, designed to meet each student’s individual needs

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years as a campus Dyslexia Interventionist

Major Campus Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide dyslexia intervention to high school students needing dyslexia program services.
  • Work with the Program Director to facilitate, plan and deliver the district’s dyslexia program and procedures.
  • Provide training and mentoring/coaching support to campus dyslexia interventionists.
  • Maintain records and operating guidelines or policies that maintain compliance and promote effective dyslexia intervention.
  • Effectively communicate district, state, and federal policies and guidelines to dyslexia interventionists.
  • Works with Program Director to monitor dyslexia program on all campuses.
  • Works with Program Director to provide opportunities for staff development for the campus staff and teachers.
  • Research programs and provide an analysis on these programs to determine how possible implementation can or will complement the district’s dyslexia program.
  • Coordinates directly with the bilingual dyslexia department to ensure all students needing dyslexia services are serviced.

District Level Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist with design and implementation of high-quality building-level professional development.
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of district’s dyslexia programs and ensuring TEA-mandated screenings occur as outlined in the TEA Dyslexia Handbook.
  • Remain current in all state and federal legal requirements for dyslexia services and procedures.
  • Assist with continuous, ongoing training for all dyslexia interventionists.

Other responsibilities:

  • Other duties assigned by the Teaching & Learning department that meet the intended purpose the district’s dyslexia program.
  • Promote collegiality, teamwork, and collaborative decision making with both campus and district staff members.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with both campus and district staff members, in order to successfully advance district initiatives.
  • Perform any and all duties as assigned.
  • Successfully advances district initiatives.
