JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a driven mechanical engineer to perform design, development, fabrication, assembly, and test tasks on complex mechanical systems including precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware, in a program team environment working with scientists, engineers, and technicians. Candidate is expected to own larger aspects of the system and be flexible with tasking as the programs evolve. Program support and technical leadership over requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing may be required. Candidate must have experience in 3D modeling using PTC Creo with large assemblies up to 1000s of parts and spanning 100s of square feet, and complex drawings, familiarity with GD&T and design for manufacturing, and the ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplined team environment. Candidate must be willing to work hands-on within a lab environment and have mechanical intuition. Machine shop experience highly desirable. Structural analysis / FEA experience a strong plus.
