Requirements PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Special Assignment Manager is responsible for all daily activities, processes, and the performance management of the region. The position oversees the management teams and directs the overall operations and maintenance of the assigned region within the network. Leads the respective management teams to ensure proper utilization of staffing and all safety, service, quality, compliance, and performance standards are met. Plans, establishes, and executes business objectives to meet all operational goals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, performance management and staff productivity Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls the assigned operations through the depot/hub management teams; develops and implements policies and programs as necessary. Monitors and evaluates operational performance and takes corrective action when necessary Leads regular and peak operations planning meetings and activities for the region and company level as required. Communicates and supports company and corporate initiatives, ensures successful implementation and develops improvement strategies for future activities. Conducts site visits to depots as required. Ensures appropriate staffing levels are maintained to meet operational needs and productivity goals. Leads and supports management teams in providing a safe, positive and productive work environment for all. Ensures all third-party contractor (TPC) are held accountable to the operating agreement and ensures adherence to all aspects of the contract. Develops relationships with vendors to help resolve problems and serves as liaison between contractor and vendor, as needed. May be required to perform tasks beyond those explicitly listed in this role. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) preferred, Masters a plus Transportation industry experience and 5 or more years in Operations Strong ability to independently lead others at all levels within the organization: Up, Down, and Peer Levels. Demonstrated history of hands-on process implementation. Goal oriented individual with a desire to succeed and a proven ability to take the initiative. Exceptional verbal and written professional communication skills. Skilled with use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Proven ability to navigate a matrix enterprise organization. Excellent organization and presentation skills. Excellent time management skills. Highly energetic, motivated self-starter. Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills. Ability to travel 40% of time.
