Employment Status: Full time Shift: Any Day, Any Shift (United States of America) Facility: 199 Hospital Dr - Galax Requisition Number: R152086 Special Conservator of the Peace-Giles (Open) How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare: The Special Conservator of the Peace (SCOP) is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors by managing the custody and oversight of individuals under Emergency Custody Orders (ECOs) and Temporary Detention Orders (TDOs). The SCOP acts as a sworn officer with specific legal authority within the hospital and associated facilities, focusing on maintaining lawful custody and ensuring compliance with state and hospital regulations #lawenforcement All of our driving positions do require that you provide a copy of your current driving record and meet eligibility requirements. The Special Conservator of the Peace (SCOP) is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors by managing the custody and oversight of individuals under Emergency Custody Orders (ECOs) and Temporary Detention Orders (TDOs). The SCOP acts as a sworn officer with specific legal authority within the hospital and associated facilities, focusing on maintaining lawful custody and ensuring compliance with state and hospital regulations Assume and maintain lawful custody of patients under Emergency Custody Orders (ECOs) and Temporary Detention Orders (TDOs). Monitor and secure patients in custody to ensure safety while maintaining dignity and respect for the individual’s rights. Coordinate with law enforcement, clinical staff, and legal representatives to manage the transfer and oversight of individuals under custody. Maintain thorough documentation of custody-related actions, including patient movements, incidents, and compliance with custody terms. Enforce hospital policies and court orders pertaining to patient custody and public safety What We Require: Education: High School Education required Experience: Previous security or law enforcement experience preferred. Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Valid Virginia driver’s license required. Life Support: NA Other Minimum Qualifications: Must possess a driving record within the scope of Carilion’s Driver Regulations. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Computer keyboarding skills.
