MINIMUM 1+ YEARS SPECIAL EDUCATION EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

A K-12 Special Education teaching opportunity is available in Williston, VT, serving students from 2nd grade through adult learners. This full academic year contract runs from August 16 to June 13, offering a structured environment with a caseload of approximately 10-15 students characterized by learning disabilities and challenges in reading at grade level. The position operates within standard school hours, typically 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, in a single school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with diverse learning disabilities.
  • Support literacy development and assist students who read below grade level.
  • Collaborate with paraeducators, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), or other support staff provided by the district to maximize student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth and engagement.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education (SPED) certification for Vermont.
  • Experience working with students who have learning disabilities, particularly in literacy support.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload ranging from elementary age to adult learners.
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative approach with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Comfort with virtual, casual panel interviews and readiness to commit to the academic year contract.
