Location: Hampton, NH (Serving AVA & SRA Campuses)
Reports To: Superintendent of Schools
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt (Salaried)

Mount Prospect Academy is seeking a dedicated Special Education Administrator to lead and support special education services across two dynamic campuses: Ashuelot Valley Academy (AVA) Keene, NH and Squamscott River Academy (SRA) in Hampton, NH. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in both day and residential school settings.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in education (required)
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Special Education required.
  • Current New Hampshire Certification as a Special Education Administrator
  • Strong knowledge of state core curriculum standards and Department of Education guidelines
  • In-depth understanding of special education laws, best practices, and pedagogy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with students, staff, families, and external agencies
  • Proven ability to collaborate and negotiate with individuals holding diverse perspectives
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of background and any required pre-employment checks
Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Special Education Administrator provides an oversight of the effective delivery of Special Education services. This position ensures compliance with the established policies, procedures and/or regulations related to special education. This position requires collaboration with special education staff, serving as a resource of information regarding special education programs and services; and ensures that procedures are appropriate in relation to policies required by state and federal regulatory requirements. This position will work closely with the school principal to prioritize communication and collaboration among faculty, administration and parents focused on student achievement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement inclusive special education programs that promote integration and equitable learning opportunities for all students.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing special education services and practices.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant student records in accordance with NHED standards.
  • Uphold ethical and legal standards consistent with professional expectations in education.
  • Develop and manage policies and procedures for evaluation, placement, and individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate regularly with department staff to monitor program effectiveness, plan strategically, and resolve issues.
  • Engage with families and stakeholders to communicate program goals and respond to inquiries.
  • Foster community partnerships to build support and understanding of special education initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation and oversight of the special education budget.
  • Stay informed on current laws and best practices related to special education.
  • Oversee special education programming at AVA and SRA.
