High school diploma required; college background preferred
At least two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or
An associate’s degree (or higher); or
An approved state or local academic assessment that measures the paraprofessional’s knowledge of and ability to assist in instruction at the appropriate level. Paraprofessionals may meet the assessment requirement by passing the ParaPro Assessment (ETS.org). The minimum passing score on this test is 456. One of the three options listed is required within six months of employment.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with early childhood school students preferred
Cooperative, able to work with supervising teachers and other staff members
Skill in interpersonal relations with pupils, parents, teachers, staff and the general public
Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work, and effectively attend to special needs of exceptional children
Outstanding references from current and former supervisors
Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report
Salary Range: Support 3
Length of Contract: 185 days/7.5 hours per day
Starting Date: 2025-2026 School Year
