POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Education Liaison serves as a key specialist supporting the evaluation of students regarding academic achievement, development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and compliance with state and federal special education regulations. The Liaison works collaboratively with building-based teams, educators, administrators, and families to ensure students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE). This position will carry a caseload of students, grades ranging from K - 12, but will not be the primary educator for the caseload. Alternatively, they will be responsible for the IEPs and will consult with the primary educator and other team members.
Conduct academic achievement evaluations for students referred for special education eligibility and reevaluation.
Provide consultation to educators, related service providers, and school leaders on evidence-based instructional strategies for students with disabilities.

Draft high-quality, compliant IEPs that align with evaluation findings, state standards, and district expectations.
Participate in and/or chair IEP Team meetings, facilitating discussions that center on student needs and family engagement.
Provide consultation to educators, related service providers, and school leaders on evidence-based instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
Communicate regularly with families to foster positive, collaborative relationships and ensure understanding of evaluation results and IEP content.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records in compliance with FERPA.
Participate in professional development and contribute to district-wide special education initiatives.
