Description Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional Job Classification: Classified Reports to: Director of Student Services/Building Administrator Work Schedule: Academic Year Part-Time (no more than 30 hours weekly) General Description: The Special Education Paraprofessional supports the academic and behavioral success of students with disabilities under the supervision of a licensed Special Education Teacher. The Paraprofessional assists with instructional tasks, classroom management, and the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), while gaining hands-on experience in a school-based setting. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Ability to follow directions and adapt to various instructional strategies Must pass a background check and meet all school district compliance requirements Primary Responsibilities: Assist students individually or in small groups under teacher direction Support the implementation of IEP accommodations and modifications Help maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment Monitor student behavior and provide redirection or support as needed Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and data collection Participate in team meetings and professional development when applicable Maintain confidentiality of student information at all times Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or school leadership School Activities: Participate in classroom activities, field trips, or school events as appropriate May assist in student support or enrichment programs based on interest and availability Attend staff meetings and Professional Development as directed by the building principal Essential Skills and Abilities: Must demonstrate foundational professionalism, including consistent attendance, punctuality, adherence to school policies and procedures, and strong employability skills. These are considered essential, non-negotiable expectations of the role.
