Description

The Role: Meadow Brook School seeks applicants for the position of Special Education Teacher. Qualified candidates must:

  • have experience teaching and supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders as well as students with other significant and complex needs.
  • have working knowledge of the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis
  • establish and maintain a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment with standards of student behavior that promote positive social and academic experiences
  • plan and deliver dynamic and creative lessons that reflect the diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds of students and that are aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the principles of Universal Design for Learning
  • ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications, as needed, to the general education curriculum for students based upon a variety of instructional techniques, approaches and technologies, in accordance with the students Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • have knowledge of state and federal special education laws, regulations and mandates. This position requires the ability to write goals and objectives, complete IEPs and progress reports and run annual meetings
  • collaborate with a wide range of colleagues
  • establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians/caregivers
  • hold Massachusetts DESE Teacher of Students with Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities licensure and SEI teacher endorsementELPS is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued, respected and are empowered to be their unique selves.
