SUMMARY

A special education teacher in Crimson Height’s residential and day treatment facility is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. They work in a unique educational setting that combines residential and day treatment services, catering to students who require intensive support due to behavioral, emotional, or developmental challenges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The main goal of a Special Education Teacher is to identify the individual needs of each child and create a healthy, inspiring and supportive learning environment. They work with many different types of children, from those who are physically disabled or sensory impaired to those with speech difficulties or autism, though they typically have the following daily responsibilities:

  • Set learning goals for each student, assess their progress, and record their evaluations.
  • Adapt general lessons to meet students’ needs.
  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student.
  • Plan, organize and assign activities that are specific to each student’s abilities.
  • Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one.
  • Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress.
  • Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals
  • Collaborate with other classroom teachers, teacher assistants, school. psychologists, learning disabilities specialists, speech/hearing specialists, and school social workers to provide an integrated plan for developing the capacities of their students.
  • Update parents on the progress of their students and enlist parental support with behavior control and home activities designed to supplement their classroom lessons.
  • Discuss students’ progress with parents, other teachers, therapists, BCBAs, and administrators.
  • Supervise and mentor teacher assistants who work with students with disabilities.
  • Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and from school to life outside of school.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Or a Masters’s Degree.
  • A valid Special Education Teaching Credential for Utah
  • 2+ years of experience preferred in Special Education Teaching. License/Certification: Teaching Certification Location: One location.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $52,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
