BACHELOR’S OR MASTER’S DEGREE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION, ACTIVE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER LICENSE AND MINIMUM 1+ YEARS SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT MEET THESE QUALIFICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

This contract opportunity is ideal for a certified Special Education professional passionate about supporting elementary students in an inclusive learning environment. You will be located in Middletown, OH, during the current school year (CSY), delivering specialized instruction aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) within an elementary school setting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Intervention Specialist License (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Intensive, or K-12 based on student population)
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes
  • Experience in individualized instruction, accommodations, and curriculum modifications
  • Proficient with progress monitoring, data collection, and formative assessments
  • Skilled in behavior management and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Effective collaborator with educators, support staff, and families
  • Excellent communication and documentation capabilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
  • Experience with inclusive education, co-teaching, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
  • Training in Behavioral Interventions such as PBIS and BIP development
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and intervention programs
  • Knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards Extended (OLSE) for students with significant cognitive disabilities
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in close collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Deliver direct academic, social-emotional, and functional instruction tailored to student needs
  • Adapt curriculum materials and assessments to ensure accessibility and individualized learning
  • Support co-teaching models and inclusive practices alongside general education teachers
  • Collect and analyze student progress data to inform instructional adjustments
  • Administer and interpret assessments, manage Behavior Intervention Plans, and facilitate required meetings such as IEP and 504 conferences
  • Communicate consistently with parents or guardians regarding student growth and goals
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal special education regulations and reporting requirements
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices
  • Create a supportive, safe environment that fosters student success and inclusion
