1.0 TEACJER/SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER JOB POSTING
The Xa’xtsa Community School is seeking an experienced full-time Teacher/Special Education Teacher who is eager and keen to work in a rural Band operated school that is evolving. The school is operated by Douglas First Nation which has a population of 120 people Tipella, BC is 96km from Pemberton, BC and is accessible by the InSHUCKch Forest Service Road. Highlighted by some of the most scenic mountains and the Harrison and Little Harrison Lake, Tipella, BC is by the spectacular Sloquet Hot Springs and offers an endless array of activities, including hiking, hunting, fishing and various water activities on the lake.
The Xa’xtsa Community School has 20 students from K5 to Grade 7 with 1 teacher/principal, 2 teaching staff, two Educational Assistants, a Cultural/Language Teacher, custodian and receptionist. The successful candidate will teach half time and be learning support half time. Our goal is to continue expanding so that all our students can be educated right in the community.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
BC Teacher Certification (elementary)
Master’s Degree in Special Education
Teaching Experience – minimum of 2 years in a First Nations School
Develop, implement and oversee Individual Education Plans
Provide inquiry based, problem solving and project-based learning opportunities Implement specialized instructional intervention methods and approaches
In-depth knowledge of the new BC Ed curriculum, and other educational programs Innovative, creative, team player and resourceful
Strong organizational and planning skills to accommodate multi-grades and diverse needs Collaborate with staff and professionals to enhance learning outcomes for students
1st Aid & CPR
Clear Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable populations
