Description POSITION: Special Education Teacher PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide each student in their class or under the teacher’s case management responsibilities with a program that will enable the student to reach his or her fullest physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral potential. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned): Provide Common Core Program for IDEA students in the classroom Follow goals and objectives as stated in the IEP for each student Maintain communication with parents on the educational progress of students Work with building process coordinator in delivery of services to IDEA students Work with general education teachers in screening, evaluating, and providing inclusion under parameters of IEP Develop accommodations/modifications to meet the unique needs of students in classroom, CWC, or inclusive setting Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Supervise and maintain appropriate student behavior within the classroom and all other areas of the building Strive to maintain and improve professional competence Attend staff meetings and building and district activities designated by Board policies and contractual agreements. Perform other duties assigned by Director of Special Education. Develop annual IEP’s and three reevaluation reports for special education students. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Certificate in cross-categorical in SPED or in individual area Degree in Special Education REPORTS TO: Special Education Coordinator STATUS: Exempt Benefits: Retirement Program, Health, Dental, and Life Insurance are provided.
