Basic Schedule: Full-time position; 80 hour bi-weekly schedule; 1st Shift, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Basic Job Description/Responsibilities for Special Education Teacher: * The Special Education Teacher is responsible for teaching a group of students with multiple disabilities and providing them with a Class Room environment that will help them reach their maximum potential. * The Special Education Teacher is a member of the clinical team and an integral professional in the active treatment service delivery process. Required Job Skills/Experience: * Minimum 21 years of age. * B.A. or B.S. graduate from an accredited school of education and valid North Carolina teaching license, or eligible to obtain license. Work Experience, Competency, and Training: * Experience in educational role with children or adults with developmental disabilities (could be student teaching or internships) preferred. * Ability to read, write, understand and follow directions * Proven proficiency in knowledge of developmental sequence and developmental milestones License or Certificate Required Prior to Employment: * Current valid North Carolina teaching license in area of Severe/Profound Handicaps (class A minimal) or other areas of teaching exceptional children and willing to get provisional area in Severe/Profound handicaps and complete educational requirements. * Valid NC Drivers License Additional Experience, Training, or Certification Desired: * Qualified Professional or Associate Professional status or eligible to be working towards QP status. * Supervisory-Staff Training or Management Skills (in field of developmental disabilities preferred) * Ongoing enhancement training with emphasis on education for persons with developmental disabilities (workshops-conferences-etc.) Holy Angels is a place unlike any other.
