SUMMARY

The role of the Special Education Technician is to create a climate of trust in order to provide the necessary help to the residents and facilitate their integration into their new living environment. Among other things, they will observe and analyze the behaviors of the residents, participate in the assessment of their needs, develop an intervention plan to promote their adaptation, facilitate individual and/or group activities and carry out periodic evaluations to monitor these individuals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma (DEC) in Special Education Techniques
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and French
  • Two years of experience, an asset

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate new residents and perform initial assessment with regards to behavioral issues.
  • Provide and implement intervention strategies and plans that promote the well-being and adaptation of residents.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, volunteers, entertainers or others to organize beneficial activities.
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings for residents.
  • Inform and supervise students and volunteers working in the department.
